The Northernlights trip

four to six hours – not suitable for children under 12

At The Northern Lights, we begin our tour at 19.00 from the ice bar (port terminal) for pick up. Our aim is to drive to areas where we have the best chance of witnessing the mesmerizing Northern Lights. While the longest trips can reach Finland, spanning about 210km each way, our priority remains finding the Northern Lights in the immediate vicinity. The duration of the trip ranges from 4.5 to 6.5 hours. While we cannot guarantee sightings of the Northern Lights, we do everything within our capabilities to increase the chances. If weather conditions permit, we will create a cozy ambiance with a warm fire, serving refreshing drinks and light snacks. Prior to the tour, we advise all guests to wear warm clothing and suitable shoes. For those who require them, we provide warm overalls and shoes. Please note that there are no toilets on the buses, but we make stops whenever possible. We also recommend that everyone enjoys a hearty meal before the trip to avoid starting on an empty stomach. Our utmost goal is to offer all our guests a memorable and well-cared-for experience throughout the trip. Upon return to Tromsø, we ensure that guests are promptly transported to their hotels or place of residence within a radius of 15 km. For others, we are happy to arrange a taxi service to ensure everyone reaches their destination safely and conveniently.

Visit sami-camp

three hours – Fits everyone

We are delighted to announce the launch of The sami-camp tours! Starting on 1st November 2024, we will be offering two daily tours to Andersdalen.

The first tour departs at 10:00, while the second tour starts at 11:30.
This excursion is suitable for both adults and children. Our journey to Andersdalen takes approximately 30 minutes by bus each way. Once there, we will be greeted by a Sami family who will share fascinating insights into the history of the Sami people. You will even have the opportunity to feed reindeer and try your hand at throwing a lasso on reindeer antlers, just like the Sami do when herding reindeer. Enjoy a light refreshment in a heated cabin during the tour. Additionally, you can have your photo taken with the Sami and reindeer, and we’ll send the photos via email the day after the tour for those interested.
